“Freedom from Fat: Part 1”

Yes, there is now a “Part 1” in the title. This is because I decided to make “Freedom from Fat” into two parts: my weight loss journey and my maintenance journey.

I have finished the first draft of Part 1! It is about my journey of losing 100 pounds. It is a compilation of journal entries (from my FatSecret account) and blog posts (from my health blog), which were already edited when I originally wrote them, so a quick proofread is all that will be needed. The book is approximately 51,000 words. I’m excited about publishing it, which, because of my busy schedule with my freelance publishing services career, will be in 2015.

Part 1 ends in the beginning of 2014. Part 2, I’ve just begun. I’ve written approximately 7,000 words towards it. I don’t have an idea of how much time in my life the book will span, but I’m still including what is currently going on in my life in the book. I’m guessing it will include about two years of my journey, so 2016 is the anticipated year that I’ll be finished with the first draft. So you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy Part 1 before Part 2 comes out!

I hope these books will help and inspire others to lose their excess weight and become healthier, and keep the weight off, which is the reason for the book about maintenance, because, essentially, that is the most important part. Anyone can lose weight, but most people struggle with keeping it off. Also, reaching a goal weight is hard too, which the weight loss book will help with.

I hope you will enjoy my two books when they come out. I have other books in the works, some that are farther along than “Freedom from Fat: Part 1,” so you may get to enjoy some more books before that one 🙂

I hope you’re enjoying your journey, whatever it may be!

Books Update

Hello everyone,

You’ve probably noticed that I’ve been posting mostly reviews and interviews for the past couple of months. And you are right. Since mid-October I haven’t posted about my books, namely my works-in-progress. Back in early September, I pretty much stopped writing in my works-in-progress due to publishing one of them (Freelance Writing Guide) and having a blog tour. I have no regrets, of course, because I was ecstatic about publishing a book I had been working on for eight months, and the blog tour was an absolutely great experience.

During the blog tour, I got my first client project in which I edited and formatted a novel. In case you didn’t know, I wear a few different hats in the publishing industry, including freelance writing, editing, and formatting in addition to being an author. A part of my freelance writing business is writing book reviews, which I post here for you all. Additionally, many of the books I review are free kindle books, so I hope I have helped you choose some great reads for cheap.

Shortly after my first client, I got another client, and many more, and I’ve been doing client projects ever since. My time is spent on client projects, reading and reviewing, blogging, networking, and also my health. In addition to being a writer, I am a health-conscious person, because I know without my health, I am nothing. So I work on being healthy, and becoming healthier, each day, in addition to my career.

I haven’t resumed working on my works-in-progress, besides updating Freedom from Fat with posts from my health blog, but I am 100% interested in finishing my works-in-progress and plan to do so in the future. I just cannot promise when that will be. Right now my interests lie in my health and growing my freelance business, and since I move through life naturally based on how it flows, I go with the flow.

I am certain that someday I will return to my works-in-progress, because I love writing and publishing books. It makes me so happy to get my thoughts and experiences in a permanent state that can be enjoyed for years to come. For now, I will go with the flow, and I will resume working on my works-in-progress once the flow returns to that part of my life.

I just wanted to reassure you all that I will be publishing the books I was working on, and I will keep posting on this blog.

Thanks for your kindness and support,

Christine

Blog Tour Progress

Good morning, everyone!

I hope your day is going well so far. I just want to take a moment to update you on my blog tour.

My interview on Jess Resides Here went well. I also enjoyed writing the guest post on From the Boothell Cotton Patch, which is an author bio and an excerpt from chapter 8 of Freelance Writing Guide! Chapter 8 is about blogs and websites, so if you’re looking for tips on how to design a blog or website, put up great content in the right places, and make it successful and profitable, you should check out this post!

Today, I am at RD Meyer Writes where there is an honest and thoughtful review of my book and an interview. In the interview, I talk about freelance writing, my book, my works-in-progress, my take on the change of the publishing industry, and more! You should check it out!

The next few days involve a book review on Honesty…in writing, an interview on Karen Elizabeth Brown, and a review on Theresa Leschmann, Author. There will be many more blog stops after that. In fact, for the remainder of the tour – until September 25th – there will be a stop every day! Join me in on the fun, and don’t forget to come back here on the last day of the tour for a special treat for all of you!

Have a great weekend!

Christine

The Month of July

Recap time! July was an excellent month for me, especially with working on my manuscripts. I edited a whole book (Freelance Writing Guide), wrote 15,800 words in Chronicles of a Troubled Girl, and wrote 2,700 words in Freedom from Fat. On top of that, I published 22 blog posts (between my two blogs), was interviewed by a book cover designer, edited two of my colleague’s articles, published five book reviews, participated in a Goodreads Giveaway and mailed out two copies of My Not-So-Ordinary Life to two winners, read four books, and contributed to a writer’s blog post. I also got my very own, really nice office chair after working hard as a writer for over 14 months. I still felt – and feel – privileged to have this chair.

August is going to be really busy, I can already tell, because I plan to do the final edit of Freelance Writing Guide and publish it, which also means that I’ll be sending out copies to my blog tour participants. Organizing a blog tour is like communicating with 20+ colleagues through email – it’s quite fun and keeps me busy! I will also be reading and reviewing three books, and posting to my blogs to keep you all updated :), as well as my other daily duties.

I hope you will all have a good month and stick around to see what’s happening next!

Keeping you Posted…

Okay, so I’ve taken a few days off from working on my manuscripts in order to get some extra sleep, get ahead in my reading, exercise, write blog posts, and upload new covers for two of my books. I also spent time with my husband and even had a day where I hardly worked, which I haven’t done in a long time.

It is time, however, to buckle down and get back to work (at least the writing/editing part). I need to edit Freelance Writing Guide, and my goal is to have the first revision done by the end of July. I also have to finish up “Chronicles of a Troubled Girl,” which I only have less than 1/3 left to write. That book is coming along quickly now, but will slow down a bit as I work on editing the first book.

By the way, I got a new desk chair–a rolling one with arm rests that is comfortable. I’ve wanted a new chair for the past 6 months. Finally, I have a real desk chair made for a writer!

So, starting tomorrow I will be super productive and not spend too much time dealing with online things. Who plans on being productive tomorrow? I know it’s Friday, but every day is a chance to start anew 🙂

A Busy Month – June 2012

Since the beginning of the year, June was my busiest month. I went through a couple of months where my activity declined, but now it is in top speed. I’ve been reviewing books and networking a lot, but I’ve also been working on my manuscripts a lot too. And don’t forget about blog posts! This is what I accomplished last month:

  • Published 16 blog posts (between two blogs).
  • Published 10 book reviews.
  • Edited twice for a colleague.
  • Sold some books.
  • Completed the first draft of Freelance Writing Guide.
  • Unburied Freedom from Fat from 2010.
  • Wrote a total of 40,600 words in three manuscripts.

I am doing it all for my readers and for my pure enjoyment of writing. I hope you each find your passion and follow where it leads. Mine leads to happiness 🙂

“Freedom From Fat”

Since I’m very close to finishing Freelance Writing Guide, I thought about the next manuscript I will start working on. I decided that my next book will be on eating right and exercising. Then I remembered an old manuscript from 2010 about my weight loss journey while following a low-carb diet and exercising. I decided to bring it back to life, so last night I updated it. Freedom from Fat is the working title. It is a compilation of journal entries, and blog posts from my health blog, that are tied to my weight loss journey. Last night, I added many more journal entries, plus most of the blog posts from my health blog, which brought the word count from 7,000 to 24,000. I now have a sizable manuscript to work with, which feels great! I’m just so happy I saved that document, even when I fell off the wagon with my weight loss program. I still continued to blog about health at least once a month. The time frame of the entries is from 5/2010-present. I will be done with the first draft when I have lost all the weight I want to lose. So in about one year, I will likely be done. That’s not too long of a time to wait!

March Recap

Wow, March was a busy month! I am looking at my monthly work chart, so, fortunately, I can share with you the writing-related accomplishments I had in March.

  • Published fourteen blog posts between this blog and my health blog, and one guest blog post.
  • Participated in Smashwords’ yearly “read an ebook week” event in which Poetry for the Heart was free and Essays for the Soul and My Not-So-Ordinary Life were 50% off.
  • Published one press release for the Smashwords event.
  • Published three book reviews.
  • Edited two articles for a colleague.
  • Wrote 1,900 words in Freelance Writing Guide and 12,700 words in Chronicles of a Troubled Girl.

I am more than happy with what I accomplished last month, and that I was able to share these accomplishments with you along the way. It is evident that this month I was more interested in writing for Chronicles of a Troubled Girl than for Freelance Writing Guide, but at least I wrote some for the latter. Thanks for joining me on this journey as I accomplish my writing goals!
